Industrial Rope Rescue
Course Objectives
On completion of this course successful participants will be able to:
- Successfully negotiate a 15m ascend and descend off a double rope system
- Demonstrate a rescue rope pick off
- Demonstrate a cut away rope rescue
- Apply first aid
- Direct in a leadership role, rope emergency response
- Demonstrate rope access

- Health and Safety in Employment Act
- Legislation affecting Rope Rescue
- Rescue kit, gear set-up for personal protection
- Knots for rescue, understanding of strength/weakness and application
- Signals for rope work
- Two point philosophy – when to use and why
- First Aid
- Anchor vectors/deviations
- Ascending and descending for Industrial Abseiling NZ/AS Standard 4488 1997
- Rigging set-ups for rescue
- Pulley systems – simple, compound and complex
- Belays and rescue archetypes
Who Should Attend
People involved in rigging, rescue team members, leaders and instructors
NZQA Unit Standards
If employees are not hooked onto NZQA there will be a charge of $25 per employee for the NZQA hook-on-fee. There will be an additional charge of $4.00 for the registering of credits. Employees will receive a certificate to show they have attended this course.

Cancellation Policy
Should an employee be unable to attend, a substitute is welcome at no extra cost. Regrettably no refund can be made if the cancellation of a registration is less then 5 working days prior to the start of a course.
